We are planning a more permanent commemoration of this milestone in our nation's history. We are looking at commissioning a Purbeck stone bench that will be sited in a prominent location in the village, and are working with the Parish Council on a commemorative tree to mark the Jubilee. The village of Corfe Castle has commemorated numerous other royal jubilees in various ways:
2012 - Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee Legacy
In 2012 the village perminently marked the ocassion with a diamond shape plaque in the village square and a pair of entrance stones at either end of the village.
1897 - Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee Legacy
In 1897 Queen Victoria marked her Diamond Jubilee. Corfe Castle celebrated in style and erected the cross in the village square to mark the occasion.
