Oyez Oyez Oyez!

The proclamation of the lighting of the beacon was made by our Town Crier, Barry Stocks.

Thursday 2 June
Platinum Jubilee Beacon
7pm - 10pm : In the Castle Grounds

We gathered for the lighting of the beacon to mark the official start to the Jubilee celebrations.

The Castle grounds were open from 7pm and the event started at 9pm culminating in the Beacon lighting at 9.45pm.

Our piper played a specially commissioned tune for HM The Queen and the Corfe Castle Jubilee Choir sang the new commonwealth anthem and the National Anthem.

Lots of people brought a picnic and enjoyed the lower Castle grounds and then helped us countdown the seconds to the lighting of beacons all over the country.

Entry to the castle was free and we we very pleased to welcome so many of you to the event.

Sunday 5 June
The Big Jubilee Picnic
12 noon to 4pm : Millennium Sports Field, West Street

We enjoyed a traditional Jubilee gathering with Family and Friends to mark this milestone event in our nation's history.

We brought our own picnic, rugs and seats and enjoyed free refreshments - tea, coffee, Purbeck Ice Cream and Bake-Off puddings and cakes - all free.

You were outrageous and original in our best decorated hat competition!

We were all part of The Big Picture - How many villagers did we get into one photograph?

We enjoyed the U3A Ukulele Band, our circus entertainer, some very silly but very competitive games.

Who was the knight in shining armour for the Hobby Horse Jousting? Did you get around the human version of the dog agility course with your dignity intact? Did you and your team win the relay and make the best Queen's breakfast? Did you beat the Goalie? How many coconuts did you win in the shy? Were you the Cornhole Game winner?

THE RESULTS OF THE GRAND DRAW WAS ANNOUNCED AT 3.30PM. WERE YOU A WINNER?

Sadly dogs were not allowed on the Sports Field.

Everybody was welcome to this event. The weather was not very kind to us, but we're British and not made of sugar. We carried on regardless.
