From the Bake-Off to the Best House and Business Frontage, Poetry and Art competitions, Dog-Scenting to the Treasure Hunt, there was something for everyone to take part in. The BYO Jubilee Picnic had a circus entertainer, traditional fairground entertainment and games which were as much fun to watch as to take part in. Our Beacon Lighting event on Thursday 2nd June caught the attention of a huge crowd. With the choir and piper it was a great evening. Take a look at our events and competitions pages for more information and our gallery page for the pictures, including a downloadable copy of The Big Picture.
Our beautiful bone china Jubilee mugs are now available from James and Roz at The Sweet Shop as well as Pav at The Pink Goat and Angela at The Town House. The sale of these has enabled us to give a mug to every child in the Pre and Primary Schools.
We are planning a more permanent commemoration of this milestone in our nation's history. We are looking at commissioning a Purbeck stone bench that will be sited in a prominent location in the village, and are working with the Parish Council on a commemorative tree to mark the Jubilee. More details will follow.
We had some fantastic prizes for our Grand Draw. A huge thank you to all the businesses and organisations who gave so generously. We still have funds to raise if we are to fulfil our legacy plans.
None of this was possible without the generosity of all of you. To help us, you bought one of our bone china Jubilee Mugs and a lot of Prize Draw tickets. We had a great team of volunteers - thank you all very much!
It was wonderful to see so many of you during the celebrations and the BYO picnic was a real celebration of not only the Platinum Jubilee but also Corfe Castle as a community.
