Jubilee Best Decorated House or Business Frontage Competition

You got your bunting, flags and decorations out and decorated the village in style - 2 categories, house or business.
Decorating was completed by Wednesday evening 1st June.
Frontages were judged by Joy Bryer and Chris Clarke from the Corfe Castle Gardening Club on Thursday starting at 10 am.
Jubilee Dog Scenting Scurry Competition

So how good was your dog at sniffing out a treat?
Organised by Gary Cole of Muttley Solutions, you came along and had a go at Gary's scenting challenge. Scenting is a great activity for your dog, tapping into their natural ability for sniffing out a treat.
The fastest dog of the day won a professional scent training lesson.
All were welcome and it was free to try - you had a go!!
The venue was the pony paddock to the rear of 126 East Street.

Jubilee Bake-Off

A Jubilee wouldn't be a Jubilee without a lot of cake . . .
There were two categories:
A Royal Celebration cake or cakes This could be any recipe, design and decoration - you went wild!!
The Platinum Jubilee Pudding A new recipe, the result of a national competition, was announced and it was a recipe fit for HM the Queen! You were able to make it as it was, halve the recipe and/or use some shop bought ingredients. It was judged on appearance and flavour. The cake and pudding judging took place on Saturday 4th June in the Village Hall. Entries were brought to the Bill Carter Room between 10am and 12 noon. You brought your bakes, on a board and in a suitable container with your name on it.
Judging began at 2.00pm and wias be open to spectators. All cakes and puddings were judged anonymously.
Anne-Marie Battle and Kirsten Allen kindly agreeded to be the judges.
Prize giving was from 3.30pm in the main hall.
All cakes and puddings entered were donated to the Jubilee Picnic on Sunday 5th June. They were served along with tea and coffee and Purbeck Ice Cream at the picnic.
With the support of our friends at Corfe Castle Village Stores and Norden Farm Shop, from Monday 30th May to Friday 2nd June anyone wishing to enter the Bake-Off could collect a bag of ingredients ( butter, sugar, eggs, flour ) free of charge. Alternatively you were free to purchase some extra ingredients and leave them at the till for others to collect and use.
Platinum Jubilee Treasure Hunt

Thursday 2nd June - Friday 3rd June
A team activity to gather information and items from locations within easy walking distance around the village. You needed a smartphone, a notebook, a pencil and your wits!!
What you needed to do:
- Form a team - at least 3 people, ages to total 70+
- Collect a task sheet at 146 East Street from 10am on Thursday 2nd June
- Complete the tasks and submit your results by 6pm on Friday 3rd June to 146 East Street
Cash prizes for the winners kindly donated by Peter and Belinda Bell. £50, £30 and £20 for the top three teams. Prizes were given out in the Village Hall on Saturday 4th June at 3.30pm.
Best Decorated Hat Competition
How original or outrageous were you? You decorated your hats in the best Royal tradition and wore them to our Big Jubilee Picnic on Sunday 5th June. Prizes were given for the best design and decoration.
Platinum Jubilee Poetry Competition

A Poetry Competition on the theme of 'Celebrating Our Queen'. 70 years of service to the nation is well worth our thanks and celebration so you let your creativity and your memories run riot.
Conditions of Entry:
Children from Corfe Castle Primary School and other School age children up to 18 who live in the Parish and adults who live in Corfe Castle parish.
There were three categories for the competition:
- 5 to 11 years
- 11 to 18 years
- Adult
Closing Date 27th May. Corfe Castle Primary School Children returned their entries to the school. Other entries were delivered or posted to The Gallery at 41, 41 East Street, Corfe Castle, BH20 5EE between 14th and 27th May.
The competition was judged by award winning Dorset poet Sarah Barr. Poems were displayed and the winners were announced at the Prize-Giving event in the Village Hall on Saturday 4th June at 3.30pm.
The prizes of £30 book tokens for each category in the poetry competition was awarded by the Corfe Castle Library.
Jubilee Children's Art Competition

As part of the national celebrations a 'River of Hope' printed on 200 silk flags designed by children was carried up the Mall. The artwork was focused on climate change.
Following this national theme our Art Competition here in Corfe Castle was entitled 'My Hope for the Future of our Planet' and we hoped as many children and young people as possible would take part. Work could be A4 and in any medium.
Conditions of Entry:
Children from Corfe Castle Primary School and Pre-School and other School age children up to 16 who lived in the Parish but attend school elsewhere.
There were four categories for the competition:
- Pre-School
- age 5 to 7 years
- age 7 to 11 years
- age 11 to 16 years
Closing Date 27th May. Corfe Castle Primary School Children returned their entries to the school. Other entries were delivered or posted to The Gallery at 41, 41 East Street, Corfe Castle, BH20 5EE between 14th and 27th May.
The work was displayed as our own 'River of Hope' on the walls of the Village Hall on 4th June when prizes of art materials for the winners in each category were awarded. It was nice how children's messages for the future were incorporated in the work.

Grand Draw
Tickets cost £1 and were available from The Corfe Village Stores and other outlets.
The Draw took place at 3.30pm on Sunday 5th June during the Big Jubilee Picnic at the Millennium Sports Field, off West Street.
